Key Workers

At Little Steps you will find a key worker system in place. This means that each child is linked to a specific member of staff on registering a place at nursery. This allows both families and staff to develop a strong, mutual bond regarding the well-being of the child. It also allows the child to feel secure in the knowledge that their special person is there for them when they need them. Should a key worker be away from the nursery at any point a secondary person is immediately put in place.

Each family is introduced to their key worker on starting nursery. Time will be available for the key worker to get to know you and your child and if suitable a home visit can be arranged. This is an opportunity for families and staff to share important information regarding the child in order that the home nursery relationship has as many common threads as possible.

We are able to arrange a number of settling in visits to ensure a smooth transition to nursery for both children and their families.
